Jammu, 24 January 2026, To provide better facilities, security, and comfortable travel to passengers, the Jammu Division of Northern Railway conducts intensive and surprise ticket checking drives at all railway stations and on trains within the division from time to time. These drives are conducted by teams formed under the leadership of Shri Uchit Singhal, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Jammu Division. The main objective is to prevent ticketless travel and ensure safe and comfortable journeys for passengers. As part of this ticket checking drive, an intensive ticket check was conducted on January 23rd and 24th at all stations and on trains between Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra and Srinagar in the Jammu Division. This check was conducted in coordination with the Railway Protection Force and the Government Railway Police.  Action was taken against 296 passengers traveling without tickets, and a fine of approximately Rs. 3,20,000 was levied.  Due to the recent heavy snowfall in Kashmir, which affected flights and road transport, many passengers are expected to turn to the railways for their travel.
To manage this situation, this ticket checking drive was conducted under the leadership of Shri Uchit Singhal. This drive was carried out systematically, taking action against passengers traveling without tickets.

Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Shri Uchit Singhal, commented on this intensive ticket checking drive, stating, "This intensive ticket checking drive was conducted in view of the increased passenger traffic on trains due to the heavy snowfall in Kashmir on January 23rd, which affected flights and road transport.  Accordingly, checks were conducted for ticketless and unauthorized passengers.
During this time, stranded passengers were assisted by the ticket checking staff in boarding the trains, and awareness was also spread among passengers to travel with valid tickets and follow railway rules."
